ROLLINSVILLE, COLORADO (USA)--ICOM, a leading global network of independent advertising and marketing communications agencies, has appointed Primus Advertising Ltd., based in Accra, Ghana, to represent ICOM in Ghana and also in Nigeria, where the agency is in the process of opening an office.
Primus joins ICOM’s expanding EMEA region that now consists of members in 31 countries and becomes ICOM’s first agency member in Africa. The agency's clients include international accounts SBC Beverages Ltd. (bottler of Pepsi, 7Up and Mirinda soft drinks and AquaSplash bottled water launched by Pepsi in 2007) and France’s huge oil company Total Petroleum Ghana Ltd. as well as leading local companies: Rowi Electronics Ltd., home appliances and white goods dealer; Omatek Computers, manufacturer of computers and home entertainment products; Smice International, distributor of heavy duty and industrial equipment; and Buka African cuisine restaurant.
Adewale Adeoye-Famosa, Primus Advertising managing director-CEO, said ICOM will be a valuable resource as his agency continues to expand in these developing markets. The agency has grown to 24 employees since its founding four years ago.
In welcoming ICOM’s newest member, Executive Director Gary Burandt said Primus Advertising not only adds to ICOM’s international presence but reinforces the network’s reputation as the most balanced of international independent advertising and marketing communications networks.
ICOM has more than 70 member agencies in 50-plus countries. Founded in 1950 as the National Federation of Advertising Agencies, ICOM offers clients an alternative to the huge and increasingly similar agency groups. Today, the network has billings of US$2.4 billion and gross income exceeding US$390 million.
